we accept submissions of zines, posters, pamphlets and occasionally other material such as stickers, art, or patches for distribution at our distro. if you are interested in submitting something for consideration, please thoroughly read through the following information and then submit the form at the end of this page.
our collection is curated. we curate our collection according to a specific vision we have for our distro. this means that we choose materials to distribute in strict accordance with this vision. if we decline to carry your zine or other media, it is likely not a reflection of how much we like it or its value or worth in world, but a reflection of whether or not we think it fits in the collection we are curating. please see our mission statement and take a look through our catalog to get an idea of what we distribute. this is the best way to gather information to consider whether or not your work will fit with the direction of the collection. we are especially seeking zines on the following topics: transformative justice, care and care work, health and health care, sexuality and sex ed, mental health and peer support, harm reduction, and reflections on accountability.
we sell on a donation basis. we do this because we are committed to anti-capitalism and distribution and amplification of the materials we promote. this includes making them available to people who do not have equal abilities to pay. we do not purchase wholesale. if you want to be compensated for your work, you will be compensated after your work is sold and at a rate directly proportional to the amount of donations it garnered minus our operational costs of distributing your work. this means that we cannot guarantee a specific, flat rate of compensation for every piece of work sold. we strive to be transparent in our finances and you will not be left in the dark with regards to how we arrived at the amount of money we end up sending you after sale. you will receive money along with an explanation that includes figures like: number of items sold (total), number of items sold (yours), percentage of total sales attributed to your work, amount of donations received, and operating costs. we generally find that distributing on a donation basis brings in as much money, and sometimes more, than distributing at fixed prices… but there is no way to guarantee that this will be the case every time. we are also more than happy to distribute your work for free, for only the cost of printing, or to recycle all or part of the donations earned by your work back into our distro and community resource work at your request.
we pay writers via paypal transfer. we pay irregularly based on when items sell, not on a fixed schedule.
you can mail us copies of your work, or we can print it for you from flats or a PDF. if we print your work for you, the cost of this printing will be part of the operational costs we deduct from the amount of money we end up sending you.
we make sales sporadically, irregularly, somewhat infrequently, and mostly in person. this is a big one. as put together as this website may make us look, this zine distro is a labor of love run by only two people and, like most other people in the world, we are kind of busy. we do this work out of passion for the material we distribute, and we do it when we are available to do it to the extent that we feel able to. furthermore, sales through the website are rare (though not non-existent) and most of our distribution happens when we table at events, fairs, and shows. this means that some months are busier for the distro than others and it is not uncommon for multiple months to pass without anything selling. what we represent for the authors and artists whose work we distribute is an opportunity to reach more people and have your work promoted. we simply do not represent a reliable source of steady income, especially of large quantities.
you will need to mail us a copy of your work for us to consider it for distribution. this will not be returned regardless of our decision. you will receive an e-mail with our mailing address once we receive your completed submission form. if we accept your work for distribution and you want us to do the printing, we can use the copy you send us as the master copy. if we accept your work for distribution and you want to do the printing yourself and mail us the final product, we will include the one you send us for consideration in the pile of ones we later sell. if we do not accept your zine for distribution, we will donate it to a local zine library.
